Hiya, what's your preferred name and pronouns, and whose country do you live on?
Hi! My name is Angie, I also go by 64-Pit. My pronouns are they/them, and I live on Yuggera and Turrbal country in Magandjin.
2. What's your rig rundown?
I shoot on a Sony A7iii using a 14mm f/2.8 lens and external flash. Most video I do is on a Sony RX100 which is super versatile and fits in my palm! I like to clip it to my belt, so it's mosh-friendly. Both these set ups have been damaged over years in pits but still work so would recommend.
I used to shoot with a DIY wide angle lens made out of a door viewer and a PVC pipe end that fit over my camera, so my piece of advice is to send it with whatever you have. Where there's a will, there's a way.
3. How did you get in to shooting live music?
I got my first camera when I was about 8 years old, a little point-and-shoot. 9 years later, I started going to all ages punk gigs and brought one along with me. It has always been an extension of me, and a way that I've engaged with community.
4. What/who are some of your influences in photography?
I'm really influenced by any art that captures body movement, and by anyone who's true to their scene. I primarily shoot Hardcore music which is, for me, all about autonomy, movement, and community. I want to see the people on stage whilst honouring the people in the pit, booking the shows, working doors, all of it.
I like when artists balance all of that together, capturing it all.
Some people I'm inspired by currently are Dana and Lauren running the Bridge by Bridge (@bridgebybridge) zine in Gadigal. If photos are really worth a thousand words, I hope my photos speak the same as they write.
I'm inspired heavily also by the legacy of old Hardcore photos, videos and zines that I find online. It really affirms the importance of documenting these moments in our collective lives because the memories truly can live longer than us.

5. Do you have a favourite show that you've photographed, or a favourite memory from a gig you've shot? Or maybe a particular favourite photograph that you've taken?
Yess! I've shot a lot of awesome shows but one that sticks with me is the Blind Girls headlining fest from January 2024 at AHEPA Hall. For me, this show marked the start of a massive wave in all ages Hardcore shows. I wrote a zine about this show; interviewing artists, show organisers, and the people attending the show. It was cool to see so many people going to their first Hardcore show, and I really challenged myself to experiment with different mediums of archiving and documentation here.
6. What else do you like to photograph outside of live music?
I'm involved in local community organising so I like to bring my art into those spaces through photography and videography. Protest never looks too different from dancing.
