1. Hiya, what's your preferred name and pronouns, and whose country do you live on?
Hey my names Mitchell, but I predominantly shoot under the name FILTH.FILM. I am living/shooting in Mulubinba Country (Newcastle) on the stolen land of the Awabakal and Worimi people.

2. What's your rig rundown?
It’s really dependent on the venue/artist I’m shooting for but my main rig is:

  • Pentax LX (35mm)

  • Pentax 6x7 (120 medium format)

  • Olympus OM10 (35mm)

Lately I’ve been lucky enough to borrow some different cameras that I change it up with including

  • Mamiya 645 (120 medium format)

  • Fujica 690 (120 medium format)

I’ve yet to really jump into the world of zoom lenses, as I have a pretty decent collection of primes.
In my bag you’d find:

  • 2 camera body’s (35 + 120)

  • 4 rolls of 120 and 2 rolls 35mm

  • 2 lens for each camera

  • f2.8 35mm + f1.4 50mm (35mm)

  • f2.4 105mm + f4 200mm (120)

  • Air blower, lens cleaning cloth

3. How did you get in to shooting live music?

Music has all ways been apart of my life, I spent most of my young adult life playing in bands and writing music, when I stopped playing live I found that capturing the music, atmosphere and performance of the bands was the right transition for me and I never looked back!

4. What/who are some of your influences in photography?
What a tricky question! Hahaha it all comes from a deep love for music, a lot of my influences are from discovering more about artists that I love. Photography wise I’d say my main influences would include: Charles Peterson, Jonathan Rach, Chris Cuffaro and Sue Kwon

5. Do you have a favourite show that you've photographed, or a favourite memory from a gig you've shot? Or maybe a particular favourite photograph that you've taken?

I’ve been very fortunate to shoot a lot of bands over the last few years, it’s hard to pick a favourite. I do remember early on shooting Frenzal Rhomb at the Hamilton station hotel, a band a grew up listening to, I spent most of the set singing every word before remembering to actually shoot it.

6. What else do you like to photograph outside of live music?
Lots actually! Apart from adding portraiture of artists I also love shooting Dogs, landscapes, and lately have been getting into a little street photography as well.

7. How can folks reach out to you if they'd like to get in touch?
