Magandjin/Brisbane quartet LEAKER unleash their debut offering on the world this September, with 11 track album HAPPYHOUR.
The second unreleased single SPINEMELTER drops today!
Featuring members of seminal Magandjin/Brisbane band Quiet Steps, guitarist Leon Perkin's post-punk/post-hardcore guitar mastery is on full display here, but with the aggression cranked up past eleven (think Pinback fans encountering Goblin Cock's Necronomidonkeykongimicon for the first time, or Minus The Bear fans finding Botch).
Building on a reputation for their intense live shows, the band have managed to bottle the lightning and produce a ferocious album that dishes out neck breaking, groove-laden riffs; with vocalist Liam Anderson's uniquely australian lyrics and delivery providing the perfect icing to this caustic cake.
Recorded and mixed at Gasworks Studios with Ben Gibson (slowcut) and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (every band you've ever listened to) HAPPYHOUR manages to generate the same delightful unease as genre stalwarts KEN Mode or Great Falls, and has all the swagger of a band much further along in their career.
HAPPYHOUR is available for pre-order on their bandcamp now, and will be available on all major streaming platforms from Friday, September 12th.
Their next show is a part of Essence 2 at The Baso in Belconen, ACT on October 3rd; with local Magandjin/Brisbane shows to be confirmed before the end of the year.
